Volunteer
At UUSB, volunteering isn’t just about helping things run, it’s one of the main ways people build connection, find belonging, and bring their values to life.
Many of us come here looking for something deeper: meaningful community, shared purpose, and a place where we can show up as our full selves. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to move from simply attending to truly being part of the community.
Why Volunteer?
- Build real relationships – Volunteering creates natural opportunities to connect with others beyond small talk
- Find your place – Whether you enjoy structured roles or more flexible, creative contributions, there are many ways to participate.
- Contribute in ways that fit you – Some roles are social and visible, while others are quiet and behind the scenes. You can engage in ways that match your energy, interests, and comfort levels.
- Live your values – Many of our volunteer opportunities connect directly to our commitments to justice, care, and community support.
What It Can Look Like
There’s no single way to get involved. Some people:
- Help create a welcoming Sunday experience (greeting, coffee hour, tech support)
- Support children’s programming or adult learning spaces
- Contribute to community care efforts
- Share their ideas through leading discussions, events, or even services.
- Offer time, skills, or creativity in ways that emerge organically.
You don’t have to fit into a predefined role, there is space here for you to participate in ways that feel natural and meaningful.
Start Where You Are
If you’re interested in getting involved, we’d love to help you find a good fit. Whether you have something specific in mind or just want to explore, reach out and we can help you get connected!
