A Spooky Success: Halfway to Halloween Trivia Night at First Unitarian Church

On the evening of our Halfway to Halloween Trivia Night, First Unitarian Church transformed into a spooky haven filled with friendly competition, fun, and a great sense of community. The event was a huge success, bringing together a diverse group of participants of all ages for a night filled with Halloween-themed questions, clever answers, and plenty of laughs.

We had four fantastic teams, with a particularly large showing from Gen XMZ, one of our affinity groups. Their enthusiasm and competitive spirit set the stage for a lively and engaging evening. The questions ranged from tricky trivia about Halloween movies and traditions to monster lore and vampire myths, creating a fun and spooky atmosphere that tested everyone’s knowledge of the eerie and the supernatural.

The night’s winning team, Cat Rambo’s table, earned their victory with some strategic thinking and the clever use of mulligans, which turned out to be a key factor in securing their win. Mulligans, a fun addition to the night, allowed teams to get a second chance on difficult questions and added an extra layer of excitement to the game.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the event possible. Florence Klecka did a fantastic job organizing the trivia questions and logistics, ensuring that everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Dr. Louise, our wonderful MC, not only guided us through the night but also contributed her own Halloween decorations to help set the mood and enhance the spooky ambiance. David Mayfield ran sound, ensuring the event was both clear and lively, while Stuart Mayfield served as the judge, keeping the scores accurate and the competition fair.

A special mention goes to our stunning pre-event display—a towering 12-foot skeleton that stood proudly in the sanctuary to promote the event and set the tone for the fun to come. The skeleton definitely turned some heads and helped create an exciting buzz around the evening.

The trivia questions were projected up on the sanctuary screens, making it easy for everyone to follow along, whether they were in the front row or further back. Snacks, alcoholic beverages, and mocktails were available for purchase throughout the night, adding to the festive atmosphere and making sure everyone stayed fueled for the competition.

Thanks again to everyone who attended, participated, volunteered, and helped make the Halfway to Halloween Trivia Night a smashing success! We hope to see you at more fun events in the future as we continue to celebrate community and make memories together.
