First Unitarian Church Activity Fair was a Success!

Each year First Unitarian Church hosts an Activity Fair. This is where folks newer to our community can learn about all the amazing groups we have here. This year 25 small groups were represented!

The majority of the groups at the activity fair are committees. Committees are the backbone of how First Unitarian Church gets stuff done. These range from the Marketing Committee, to the Peace & Social Justice Committee, to the Sunday Service Committee. You can see a full list of our committees along with a brief description of each here: https://firstunitarian.us/connect/committees/ Our congregation’s reliance on committees parallels how the Unitarian Universalist Association relies on committees. You can learn more about their structure here: https://www.uua.org/uuagovernance/committees

In addition to our committees, we have several small special interest groups that participated. This year we had SPIRAL (our Pagan group), Feasters, and Gen XMZ represented. You can learn more about these groups here: https://firstunitarian.us/connect/groups/ Each of these groups has a different purpose, so the activity fair provides leadership of these groups to discuss directly with friends and members exactly what their groups are about.

Members and friends of the congregation had the opportunity to win two tickets to our upcoming Francis Luke Accord Concert by visiting at least 10 committees or groups. Committee and group leaders signed off on the participant’s door prize entry card and the winner was pulled at random from the submitted cards! These tickets were donated by Jim Ward who is the leader of SoUUnds South Bend. You can learn more about SoUUnds here: https://www.facebook.com/soUUnds.SB/

The First Unitarian Church Activity Fair takes place each year at the start of Fall. The goal is for committees and small groups to catch the interest of new folks as well as to raise awareness about what each group is working on within the congregation. This event is a long standing tradition at First Unitarian.
