In 1957, our then-minister, Rev. John H. Morgan, wrote a poem to use as an Easter sermon. Later, after Rev. Morgan moved to Canada, a member of the congregation, Norris Hooton, set it to music. In 1964, a group of UUs from South Bend and Elkhart made a road trip to Morgan’s Toronto church to perform the music and words together, on May 31.
It appears that it was performed at this church only once, in 1980. We think it’s time to put those words and music together again, don’t you?
Easter is on April 9 this year, and we’ll need as many rehearsals as we can get. If you’d like to be part of this musical adventure in our church’s history, see Florence Klecka by the end of February, and let’s make this happen!
