With the Larger Community
Beyond UUSB, Gen XMZ tries to find ways to connect to the larger Michiana community. This often looks like hosting our monthly events at local venues.
We recognize that some of these activities require a financial investment. As often as possible we find equitable ways to ensure that everyone can participate regardless of finances. How that is done varies from event to event, but usually involves participants who have financial resources pitching in a bit extra to cover those who do not.
Some of the activities we have engaged with include:
- Michiana Renaissance Festival at the South Bend 4h Fairgrounds
- Watching Nosferatu at the Downtown library in South Bend
- UU Beach Day at Silver Beach in St. Joesph Michigan
- Attending the Fusion Festival in Howard Park
- Enjoying appetizers at The Cellar – a local restaurant
Beyond our local community we also sometimes engage in social justice projects. Most recently we wrote holiday messages to incarcerated queer folks through the Black and Pink Project.
