Lay-Led Services
One of the defining characteristics of Unitarian Universalist congregations is that we have what is called an open pulpit. This means that folks other than the minister preach regularly. Sometimes this involves invited guest speakers, but much of the time it means members and friends of the congregation give sermons. It is important to note that anyone preaching from the pulpit must be speaking in alignment with our 7 principles and/or our 6 values.
We have a committee that is in charge of putting together these lay-led services: the Sunday Service Committee. The committee has put together a form for folks who are interested in either suggesting a topic for a sermon and/or giving a sermon. You can access that form here:
