When Someone told me that I live in a Fantasy Land, I nearly fell off of my Unicorn

Earle has been variously described as Peter Pan (as his daughter can testify, he never grew up) or perhaps Saint George slaying dragons and rescuing damsels in distress (ANSWER educates twice as many girls than boys). But in fact, Earle is more like Don Quixote, a doddering old man, who marches to a different drummer, follows his bliss, and now finds himself fighting Giants passing wind.

As you are about to learn, Earle is truly a free spirit. A one-time physician assistant with a background in Tibetan Studies and Asian Languages, Earle kept refining what it was he wanted to do and became a Physicians Assistant. 23 years ago he volunteered in a children’s charity hospital in Kathmandu, fell in love with Nepal, and soon realized that no one was seriously educating the poor. Mounting his unicorn, he established a different kind of organization, a charity which must take on the task of becoming a movement. So, ANSWER became the bastion within which poorest but brightest children would be protected and nurtured to become enlightened knights to fight social ills such as poverty, caste, gender discrimination, and corruption. As Knights in quest of the Holy Grail, they must remain in Nepal to serve and are now sponsoring students of their own.

ANSWER, with the help of hundreds of UU sponsors in dozens of UU churches, has now helped nearly 1500 children go to school. 700 students are currently enrolled in over 150 schools and colleges all across Nepal. For whom the Grail serves? It serves us all, giving meaning and hope to all our lives. Therein lies….Happiness!
