On Monday, March 31st at 6:00 PM, First Unitarian Church of South Bend will host a Trans Day of Visibility event, an evening dedicated to honoring, uplifting, and supporting transgender individuals in our community. Whether you identify as transgender, are an ally, or are seeking to learn more, we invite you to be part of this meaningful gathering.
Justice through visibility. Equity through action. Love through all. These words guide our event as we come together to celebrate transgender lives and reaffirm our commitment to building a world where all people are valued and safe.
What to Expect
Location: First Unitarian Church, 801 E. Washington St., South Bend, IN 46617
Time: 6:00 PM
This gathering will take place in our Sanctuary, where several members of our community will share their experiences and reflections. Following the speakers, we will hold a community conversation about how allies can better support our trans siblings, especially in this particularly challenging moment in history.
After the program, we invite attendees to join us in the Great Hall for light refreshments and continued conversation in a welcoming, affirming space.
Supporting TREES: Transgender Resource, Education & Enrichment Services
This event is also an opportunity to give back and support the trans community. All donations collected during the evening will go directly to TREES (Transgender Resource, Education & Enrichment Services), a local organization that provides essential resources, advocacy, and enrichment opportunities for transgender individuals. Your contributions will help empower trans lives and create a stronger, more inclusive community.
Why This Matters
Trans Day of Visibility is an annual international celebration that recognizes the strength, resilience, and contributions of transgender people. At First Unitarian Church, we believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person and strive to create a community where all individuals—regardless of gender identity—are seen, valued, and supported. This event is one way we put our Unitarian Universalist values into action, living out our commitment to justice, equity, transformation, pluralism, interdependence, and generosity.
“Visibility is about more than just being seen—it’s about being celebrated, respected, and uplifted,” said Dr. Louise, an organizer of the event. “By coming together as a community, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of transgender individuals while also deepening our own understanding and commitment to justice.”
