Taskforce Update July 2023

Last week, the leadership of the Taskforce convened to go over information gathered both at the recent Town Hall as well as from the June 28th Taskforce Session.

After reviewing all of the information, two major outcomes were identified.

First, it is clear that in order for our congregation to successfully increase revenue, engage current members and friends, as well as engage the broader community, our committees are in need of some serious attention. We heard several members of the congregation express concern about the scope of our goals given the current state of our committees.

As a result, the Taskforce is going to increase the needs and visibility of each of our committees through a sign up event beginning Sunday July 23rd. We created sign up sheets listing the purpose, current members, and a space to sign up for the committees. You can see that information here The goal is to encourage folks to put their volunteer energy toward committees that really need the volunteers. This may include folks crossing their name off of committees that have a robust volunteer force and adding it to committees that are in need – especially those committees that only have a single chair person. For folks who do not attend services on-site, there is a virtual sign-up here

Second, in response to feedback connected specifically to our speed and financial goals, the taskforce established a set of specific, measurable, and time bound fiscal goals. The current budget deficit is about $26,000 so the goal has been set to raise $30,000 over and above our usual income. Officially entitled “Defeat the Deficit” the entire congregation, and especially the committees, will need to work together to meet this important financial goal.

The taskforce has broken down this goal into raising $3,000 every month (Aug-May). This amount does not reflect the total income of the church, but rather just the amount that the congregation needs to raise over and above our usual income streams.

To support our continued focus on this financial goal, the taskforce put together a fundraising thermometer marking our progress in $1500 increments. This thermometer will be on display in the sanctuary and will be regularly updated.
