August was a busy month for board activities. We had a retreat in two separate evening sessions and discussed current activities of the church and came up with goals for the year. The retreat was facilitated by Mark Bernstein from the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Our goals for the year, include: 1) To install technology for multi-platform services and to work with volunteers to help the technology run smoothly 2) To initiate and support a congregation wide mission/vision process 3) Working with parents and other groups to develop a cohesive plan to improve services to children and families and 4) Increasing opportunities to communicate with the congregation to lift spirits and stay positive during this continued period of isolation.
Financially, the church is currently in good shape. We had a slight surplus at the end of August.
As far as COVID, we are still avoiding in-person services. For the auction, we recommend that people hold events outdoors or offer carry-out food. Some day this will all be over, and in the meantime, we are staying safe and being careful. The church has still maintained connections between members, I always enjoy keeping up with people in the chat rooms after services and at committee meetings. For now, stay home, be safe and keep connected!
