I joined First Unitarian Church in March of 2015 and I’m constantly amazed by the kindness, generosity and unconditional love displayed by the members of this congregation. I discovered the Unitarian Universalist denomination while living in New Mexico. After being raised Christian, I realized in my twenties I no longer believed in the dogma I had been taught as a child. I spent many years pursing my own spiritual growth and eventually embraced many of the concepts of Buddhism, but I didn’t want to attach myself to one particular set of beliefs. When I found a UU church, I was simply amazed – I was able to experience all the comforting traditions of my childhood (music, community and ritual), in addition to the flexibility of following my own spiritual path. I couldn’t ask for a better place to learn and grow as a human being!
